Why the BBC is better

Because I know that we are subject to censorship in the media, because information is either sugar coated or avoided, and because we have such a pathetic us vs. them mentality I tend to go to the BBC for my news.

And the BBC had THIS as a top story.

I had to hunt through Yahoo news and MSNBC to even find it.

And CNN had nothing about it.

I find it interesting that the media picks and chooses what it will air. And very important things seem to get left out or avoided. Do Americans realize how uninformed we are and how censored our information is?

I'm pretty sure I am preaching to the choir here but I just had to bring it up.

This is not the first time critical information was a headline in other parts of the world and buried or not even mentioned state side.

I'm sure this will hit the news eventually but I find it interesting that the rest of the world finds this to be a serious issue and we bury our heads in the sand.

The US commits crimes against humanity every day and yet we still try to ride the great white horse of democracy, waving our flag, and telling the world that the US is the greatest nation with the greatest people on the planet. When in reality the entire US Executive branch should be on trial for sanctioning atrocities committed around the world and to our own people.

Well said, Newt.
In your country, there's a big assumption that to question the rightness of government is un-american, and to point out cases like this is tantamount to being the enemy.
The U.S. has in its time done great good for other nations, but has also shored up dictatorships and supported regimes who are utterly evil. The same argument can be made against my country, whose prime minister was all too ready to follow his buddy george into war, but at least we are free to say so.
Here's another story for you, a plane regularly used by the CIA, registered to an apparently nonexistent US company, whose registered offices have unmarked police cruisers in the parking lot, crashes in Yucatan with 3.7 tons of coke on board....

Your region is much in our news at the moment for arrests of dissidents. sounds like east germany.
Pics of protesters being arrested for smashing windows....
All the arresteees are wearing identical footwear to the arresting law enforcement officers. Hm
Co-incidence of course, definitely not agent provocateurs....

Oh... me via gary Rith Pottorsblog, by the way.
